Fixing Easy-Touch® Start Up Issues

Fixing Easy-Touch® Start Up Issues

If you get a “blue screen of death” or other errors when trying to start up the Easy-Touch, follow these steps:

1. Unplug everything except the power cable from the tester and try to start it up again. Bad external devices, including USB hubs, can cause startup issues and therefore need to be unplugged to accurately diagnose the issue.

2. If the startup problem persists, we need to boot up the tester with only the keyboard, mouse, and power cable plugged in. When starting up the tester, repeatedly press “F8” on the keyboard until a text-based menu pops up. This may take a few tries, but if the menu never pops up and you continue to have a startup error, the tester may need to be serviced by Cirris. If it does bring up a menu, you need to choose “Start Windows Normally” and press “Enter”. If the tester starts up correctly, you need to use the software to shut it down properly and start it back up normally.

3. If you still have startup issues at this point, press “F8” to bring up the same text menu as before. Choose “Last Known Good Configuration (advanced)” and press “Enter”. Like before, if the tester starts up correctly, you need to use the software to shut it down properly and start it back up normally.

4. If you still have trouble after choosing “Last Known Good Configuration (advanced)” you will need to bring up the text menu with “F8”, choose “Safe Mode” and press “Enter”. This may take a while if files are being repaired, so remain patient. If the tester starts up correctly, you need to shut it down properly through the software and start it back up normally. If you continue to get startup errors the tester may need to be serviced by Cirris.
