Resolving Error: xTestSounds.TTestSounds

If you get the error: “xTestSounds.TTestSounds.play_beep: easywire\Sound\open.wav not Found”, you may be missing entries from you INI configuration file. This can happen from improper system shut down, force-closing Easy-Wire, etc.

With Easy-Wire closed, open up the file “easywire.ini” with notepad (or any text editor) from either: “C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\Cirris\Common” (Windows XP) or: “C:\Users\Public\Documents\Cirris\Common” (later version of Windows). To be safe, we suggest copying the file before editing it. Look for the entries below and if they don’t exist, create them as new lines:

ProbeTouch=C:\Program Files (x86)\Cirris\easywire\Sound\probe.wav

OpenError=C:\Program Files (x86)\Cirris\easywire\Sound\open.wav
Next=C:\Program Files (x86)\Cirris\easywire\Sound\next.wav
Click=C:\Program Files (x86)\Cirris\easywire\Sound\click.wav
RetestError=C:\Program Files (x86)\Cirris\easywire\Sound\retstbad.wav
Message=C:\Program Files (x86)\Cirris\easywire\Sound\message.wav
FourWireAttached=C:\Program Files (x86)\Cirris\easywire\Sound\fourwireattached.wav
GoBack=C:\Program Files (x86)\Cirris\easywire\Sound\goback.wav

Note: If you are running a 32-bit Windows, you will need to change the path from “C:\Program Files (x86)\…” to “C:\Program Files\…”. To know if Windows is 32-bit, make sure the path: “C:\Program Files (x86)” does not exist. 

Also note that if the INI file cannot be found per the instructions above, you may have a different version of Easy-Wire that requires different instructions. If this is the case, let us know what version of Easy-Wire you have (you can find the version number on the main menu) and we will provide you with instructions.
