Failure while booting CH2

If you start your CH2 system and you get a message similar to: “Could not turn off CH2. Turn off power and then back on to all CH2 boxes”, followed by: “No CH2 tester found. Check USB connection to tester”, then the problem is caused by the USB driver being in a state that the Easy-Wire software is not able to resolve.


The easiest option is to restart your PC. If you still get the error after a re-start, you will need to change the COM port that the Silicon Labs driver is using.

To do this:

  1. Right click on ‘My Computer’ and select ‘Manage’.
  2. Select ‘Device Manager’.
  3. Expand “Ports (COM & LPT)”.
  4. You should have an entry “Silicon Labs CP210x USB to UART Bridge (COM x)”. Right click on this port and select ‘Properties’.
  5. Click the “Port Settings” tab.
  6. Click “Advanced”.
  7. Click the drop down box and select another COM port that is not in use. Click ‘Ok’ until you are back to the “Device Manager”.
  8. You should now be able to restart Easy-Wire™ and have the CH2 connect.
